Detectives Arrest Suspect in Fort Washington Homicide

The Homicide Unit arrested a suspect in connection with Wednesday’s homicide in Fort Washington. The suspect is 19-year-old Xavier Johnson of the 7300 block of Brook Meadow Lane in Upper Marlboro. He’s charged with fatally shooting 24-year-old Timothy Harris of Parkton Street in Fort Washington.

On May 24th, at about 10:40 am, patrol officers were called to the 12300 block of Asbury Drive for a shooting. They found Harris lying in the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Patrol officers arrested Johnson a short time after the shooting. The preliminary investigation reveals that prior to the shooting, Johnson and Harris were involved in a drug-related dispute.

Johnson is charged with first and second degree murder. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

PGPD Announces the Graduation of Session 131


The Prince George’s County Police Department is proud to announce the graduation of 28 recruits from the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Training Academy. 

Of the graduates of Session 131, four have family members who are active duty or retired Prince George’s County Police officers. We are also proud of the three graduates with military experience. All 28 members of Session 131 will join us here at the Prince George's County Police Department.

WANTED WEDNESDAY


Surveillance Video of Brazen Armed Robbery 


We’re starting Wanted Wednesday this week with the surveillance video of a brazen armed robbery at a drugstore in District Heights. The store is in the 7000 block of Marlboro Pike. On the video you see the suspect walk into the store. He then took money out of the store’s safe. This happened on May 21st at about 10:40 pm. During the robbery, the shirt or scarf covering the suspect’s face slips, giving us a look at his face. Burglary Investigation



This suspect helped himself to several items from a tobacco store in the 6000 block of Livingston Road in Oxon Hill. He broke in around 12:30 am on May 18th.  If you recognize him, please call 301-749-5064 or Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.

Convenience Store Robbery 


Robbery Unit detectives are actively working to identify and arrest these two suspects. They targeted a convenience store on Ritchie Road on May 18th shortly after midnight.  One of the suspects was armed with two guns. Auto Parts Store Robbery


We’re also searching for these suspects. They’re wanted for robbing an auto parts store on Martin Luther King Junior Highway in Seat Pleasant. The robbery took place on May 22nd shortly before noon. PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision in Clinton

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is working to determine the cause of a fatal crash in Clinton. The victim is 17-year-old Norman White of Livingston Road in Clinton.

On May 23rd, at about 10:15 pm, patrol officers were called to Temple Hill Road at Woodelves Way in Clinton.

The preliminary investigation reveals White was traveling southbound on Temple Hill Road when for reasons which remain under investigation, he lost control of his car and ultimately struck a tree. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
