Arrest Made in Homicide of James Lamont Tinsley

Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit announced that an arrest has been made in the homicide of 28 year old James Lamont Tinsley.


On December 11, 2010 at approximately 2:49 a.m., patrol officers responded to a call for a shooting in the 8800 block of Hawthorne Lane.  Upon arrival they discovered Tinsley, of the 11700 block of South Laurel Drive in Laurel, inside of a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound.  He was pronounced dead on scene.  Detectives believe the homicide occurred as the result of a personal dispute

On December 30, 2010, members of the Prince George’s County Repeat Offenders Unit, with the assistance of the Laurinburg Police arrested, 25 year old Jamar Slade Russell in Laurinburg, North Carolina without incident.   Russell, of Laurel, Maryland, will be charged with first degree murder and is currently being held by the Laurinburg Police as a fugitive from justice pending extradition to Maryland.
