PGPD's newly certified Car Seat Technicians!

Chiefs Magaw and Davis stand with PGPD's newly certified Car Seat Technicians

Prince George's County Police Department's newly certified Car Seat Technicians will be on hand this Saturday during PGCFCU's Community Day to provide free car seat inspections and to teach people about the benefits of proper car seat installation.

The Certified Child Protective Seat Technicians were trained by the Governor’s Office, Kids In Safety Seats (KISS) program, utilizing the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) curriculum.  The technicians are able to determine the safety of individual car seats, keep up with recalls, ensure that car seats are appropriate for the intended child, and that car seat and vehicle's harnesses are correct.  Car seat check-ups take about 30 minutes per seat and involves the vehicle operator.  All Child Protective Seat Technicians are qualified to teach vehicle operators and child care givers how to properly install and use their car seats.
