Fallen Georgia Police Officer Ivorie Klusmann Laid to Rest with Full Honors in Maryland

Family, friends and law enforcement officers from around the country came to honor a fallen hero today as DeKalb County (GA) Police Officer Ivorie Klusmann was laid to rest. The internment was held at the Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, Maryland.  Police Officer Klusmann will be remembered for his enthusiasm and devotion to his family, career, community and fellow police officers.

The Prince George's County Police Department's Special Operations Division provided full honors for the fallen hero, who was involved in a fatal single vehicle crash while responding to assist a fellow officer.

Officer Klusmann served with the DeKalb County Police Department for 10 months and was assigned to the East Precinct. Officer Klusmann is survived by his two young children. His cousin is Prince George’s County Police Officer DeWayne Harris.

We are forever grateful for Officer Klusmann’s service and sacrifice.

I recently first read this story last week and like many others I wondered why this agency was giving full honors to an officer from another jurisdiction. After sleeping on it not only did I agree with the decision but it made me proud after almost 25 yrs of service to this department to know what this dept was doing for this young fallen hero who made the ultimate sacrifice. Doesn't matter to me if that sacrifice was here or in another state but for this Dept to go the extra mile for this young fallen hero and his family I think it says a lot about this Dept and some of the leaders that are now running day to day operations. To the family and friends of officer klusmann may god be with you in your time of lost. I hope you have some comfort in knowing that your family member sacrificed his life for the service of others. It takes a special man a special person to do this job and officer Klusmann was definitely that. May god bless you and comfort you in the days weeks months and years to come, and know that you are not alone in your time of lost. You have the support of the entire Dept of the Prince George's County police.
