Retired Police K9 “Maggie” Passes Away

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Special Operations Division regrets to inform you that we’ve lost another retired K9.  On August 14, 2013, K9 Maggie passed away at the age of 16.  Maggie was the faithful partner of Major Edward Davey.

Maggie served the PGPD as a drug detection K9 from March 2000 until her retirement in January of 2010.  K9 Maggie was the only United States Customs trained and certified K9 on the department.  She was responsible for the seizure of more than $15 million in illegal narcotics and nearly two million dollars in cash. In 2000 and 2001, Maggie was the co-recipient of the Metropolitan Council of Governments award for the Top K9 unit in the region.

Maggie was a beloved partner to Major Davey and great member of the PGPD family. She will be truly missed.
