PGPD Investigates Fatal Collision in Brandywine

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Brandywine. The victim is identified as 72-year-old James Vaughn of the 1300 block of Split Rock Lane in Fort Washington.

On November 21, 2013, at about 11:00 pm, patrol officers were called to the 16000 block of Gardner Road in Brandywine for the report of a collision. When they arrived, they discovered a car had struck a tree. The driver, Vaughn, was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The preliminary investigation reveals Vaughn was traveling westbound on Gardener Road. For reasons which remain unclear, Vaughn lost control of his car and struck a tree.
Preliminarily, alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.
