PGPD Investigates Homicide in District Heights



The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a homicide in District Heights. The victim is 32-year-old Marquita Wimms of 23rd Parkway in Hillcrest Heights. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered in this case. 

On October 3, 2015, at about 10:45 pm, patrol officers responded to the 1900 block of Rochelle Avenue for the report of a vehicle that crashed into a building. When they arrived, they found Wimms inside the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.  Detectives immediately launched a death investigation. However, the medical examiner has now ruled the victim was murdered. Detectives are working to establish a suspect and motive in this case.
