Two Suspects in Custody in Fatal Shooting of Convenience Store Employee


Our Homicide Unit arrested two suspects in connection with the August homicide of a convenience store employee in Clinton. The suspects are 20-year-old Deandre Davis of the 7700 block of Mike Shapiro Drive in Clinton and 20-year-old Duran Carrington of the 800 block of Southern Avenue in Washington DC.

On August 20th, at about 4:50 am, patrol officers were called to the 9700 block of Brandywine Road for a shooting. The officers found the victim, 31-year-old Taiwo Oduwole, outside of the 7-11 suffering from a gunshot wound. He died a short time later at a hospital. Oduwole was an employee of the convenience store.

The investigation reveals the victim was shot during a robbery attempt. Carrington has admitted to shooting the victim, while our investigation reveals Davis acted as the getaway driver.

Both suspects are in the custody of the Department of Corrections. They are charged with first degree murder, armed robbery and related charges. They are also charged with the armed robbery of a hotel in Clinton shortly after the fatal shooting of Oduwole.
